This was my idea of a Bwap from Traveller before I saw the actual illustrations of Bwaps which are much skinnier. I prefer mine :(

Heh... kinda looks like a Bwap that would hang out a bar... too much :)

So was it that you had missed their debut in JTAS or had you heard of them earlier and did your own version before Bill Keith got to it?

No, I only heard of them a few years back. Someone wanted a picture of one but had no ref pics, just a description. I drew this one and then saw what I can only assume were the JTAS images afterwards. I did a similar one in this pic:
